Nick Weydert

Nick Weydert

Nick was born and raised on a diversified farming operation in Hartland, MN, just north of Albert Lea, Mn. He helped run a diversified farm of about 800 acres, 60-80 head sow farrow-to-finish operation, a 50 head cow/calf operation, which expanded to a 350 head confinement feedlot. He graduated from S.D.S.U. in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Nick started his first job working for a feed company and has continued in that career until the present. With the drought of 2012 behind us, he decided in 2013 to start a new business venture as sole owner of Yankton Seed House. His desire to aid farmers and ranchers to make better decisions when trying to regenerate pastures and planting other forages for livestock production has been the reason to expand into this business. Soil health and agricultural sustainability is really Nick's first objective. He finds it very rewarding in helping producers make the most out of what they have to reduce cost and increase profits. It has been a great experience, and he has expanded his knowledge of many different grasses, forages, cover crops, and other agronomic aspects of agriculture to continue aiding in farmers decisions. Nick is married to Paula who is a lovely gal born and raised in Iowa. She has been a elementary teacher for 38 years and still enjoys teaching the younger generation. Nick and his wife have five daughters, four sons-in-law and four grandchildren that take a lot of their time visiting and sharing every moment of joy. Nick's hobbies are singing at special events and in the church choir, biking, hiking, being outdoors and watching wildlife. He is proud to own Yankton Seed House and to be of service to you, the customer. Nick's philosophy is the same as many producers, trying to be good stewards of the land and livestock. Trevor Hansen

Trevor Hansen

Trevor grew up on his family’s diversified farming operation near Irene, SD. He assisted his father, uncles, and grandfather with the farm’s row crops, small grains, hay and cattle. The cattle portion consisted of both dairy and beef cows and a feedlot, until 2010, when the dairy herd was dispersed, and the beef herd was expanded to 450 head. Trevor attend South Dakota State University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. From there he worked for two and a half years as a herdsman for a purebred beef seed-stock producer in East Central South Dakota. Trevor had the pleasure of moving back to the home area of Irene and began working with Yankton Seed House in May 2019. His firsthand experience working in production ag allows him to understand the diverse needs of today’s farmer. Aiding farmers in maximizing the productivity of their land in combination with promoting soil heath is Trevor’s mission. He enjoys consulting with customers about their seed needs and cropping intentions. He values the opportunity to engage with Yankton Seed House’s customers and learn more about their operations. In his free time, Trevor enjoys working with his small herd of registered Gelbvieh and Balancer® cattle, attending SDSU Football games, and spending time with friends and family. Trevor is engaged to be married in September 2020 to an amazing woman named Kiersten from Minnesota. His experience in all aspects of farming in the region will provide him with the knowledge needed to consult with customers and meet all their seed needs at all times. (605) 660-5426 Send an Email
